“GUIDANCE ON THE IMPROVED COLLECTION AND SORTING OF PAPER-BASED PACKAGING FOR RECYCLING VERSION 3”

This document is a set of guidelines compiled by Working Group “WS-3” of the 4evergreen Forum.

Aimed at improving the recycling rate of paper and paperboard packaging, this document outlines approaches for improvement and recommended systems at each stage of collection, separation, and sorting, and provides guidelines for efficient collection and sorting.

The 4evergreen Forum is a cross-industry alliance established following a workshop launched in 2019 by CEPI (the Confederation of European Paper Industries), a European paper industry association. Its purpose is to improve the circularity of fiber-based packaging, such as paper and paperboard. Companies and organizations involved in paper packaging participate in the forum, with the goal of achieving a 90% recycling rate for fiber-based packaging in Europe by 2030.
