Invitation to the online platform “Private sector initiatives to reduce plastic waste and marine plastic debris”

We are aware that many private companies conduct various business activities that reduce plastic waste and by consequence contribute to marine plastic debris prevention in South East Asia and East Asia. But many of such initiatives are not sufficiently highlighted and widely shared.

The Regional Knowledge Centre for Marine Plastic Debris (RKC-MPD) is an information clearinghouse on marine plastic debris serving the ASEAN+3 countries (10 ASEAN Member States, China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea) established under the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA).

One of the main objectives of the RKC-MPD is to encourage and promote business sector’s contribution to marine plastic litter reduction. As such, collecting and sharing private companies’ relevant activities is of great importance.

Sharing your company’s efforts on our platform entitled “Private sector initiatives to reduce plastic waste and marine plastic debris” will allow you to showcase your products, services, and/or technologies contributing to keep our ocean clean and protect its ecosystem to a wider audience. It will also be an occasion for your company to connect with local authorities, policymakers, other private companies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), scholars, and citizens internationally, which could potentially lead to business opportunities or new partnerships across ASEAN+3 region and beyond.

By submitting basic information online, your plastic waste mitigation efforts will be presented on the RKC-MPD website. Eligible private companies operating in ASEAN+3 countries are encouraged to submit your inputs by simply completing the registration form at: “SHARE YOUR STORY” in English.
