「CIRCULARITY BY DESIGN GUIDELINE FOR PAPER-BASED PACKAGING VERSION 3」

This document is a set of guidelines compiled by Working Group 2 (WS-2) of the 4evergreen Forum.

With the aim of improving the circularity of fiber-based packaging such as paper and paperboard, it outlines the impact of design elements—including material composition, printing, adhesives, and coatings—on the recycling process and presents a framework for design for recyclability.

The 4evergreen Forum is a cross-industry alliance established to improve the circularity of fiber-based packaging, such as paper and paperboard. It originated from a workshop launched in 2019 by CEPI (the Confederation of European Paper Industries).

Companies and organizations involved in paper packaging participate in the forum, with the goal of achieving a 90% recycling rate for fiber-based packaging in Europe by 2030.

※CLOMA’s KAWG4 and 5 considered that the “Paper Packaging Design Guidelines for Resource Circulation,” developed by the cross-industry alliance 4evergreen Alliance (https://4evergreenforum.eu)—which originated from workshops launched by CEPI (the Confederation of European Paper Industries) in 2019—would be widely useful, and therefore decided to publish them.
